Providing Unique accommodation since 1811
The Merchant’s House and Store provides two unique heritage holiday homes in the heart of Kilrush town, Co. Clare on The Wild Atlantic Way. The property has a rich history and has been lovingly restored conserving the past while discreetly installing 21st century comforts.
The Merchant’s House
Located on the first and second floor of our house is the original residence of a 19th century shopkeeper. It is as if they have stepped out and invited you to stay! Check out the Merchant’s House.
The Merchant’s Store
A stay at The Merchant’s Store, on the ground floor, is like no other. The Store is Ireland’s only Victorian Bar/Pub that has been converted into a truly unique heritage holiday home. Check out the Merchant’s Store.

What people are saying about us
What a treat to stay in such a lovingly restored house! A wonderful base to explore The Wild Atlantic Way and a welcoming place to come home to at the end of each day.
The Merchant's House Comment BookIt was lovely to stay in a house that took you back in time whilst still offering all the mod cons. It was great to look out onto The Market Square and hear the town gently waking up. My teenage children took a morning run to Cappagh and called into the shops on their way back always to be greeted warmly by the shopkeepers.
Trip AdvisorThe bedrooms are furnished with mahogany beds and chests of draws, and gilt-framed prints of far away places.
The Irish TimesI absolutely adored my time here, and daydream often of Kilrush and The Merchant’s House.
Trip AdvisorThanks to Paul for creating this wonderful hideaway and for making us feel so welcome.
